Job Seekers in 2013

As all of us compile our lists of New Year’s resolutions, some job seekers are on a continuous hunt for that ideal job.

Below are 5 tips for landing that job you have dreamed of:

1. Research

We cannot stress enough how important it is to research the company you are interviewing with. Research everything they do including their social media pages and understand their industry and competitors. Researching the company conveys you are serious about the position and interest in the company.

2. Connectivity

By researching the company’s social media pages, this is your opportunity to interact with them. “Like” and “share” posts that appeal to you. This opens up opportunities for you in an online presence form.

3. Think career, not a job

Be sure to think long-term. It is important to view the position you are interviewing for as an opportunity for growth in your professional career. Employers want to see that you are dedicated and envision yourself as an important asset. They need you, so communicate what you can do for them.

4. Punctuality

It is important to arrive early! Like the old saying goes, “If you’re on time, you’re late.” By arriving early, you show that you are timely, dedicated, and you show concern for others’ time.

5. Maintain contact

Following up with a thank you email is important. Your gratitude and effort is something an interviewer expects from a forseeable candiate.
